Makita Cordless Power Tools

Up till now, mostly on this site we've only discussed Makita drills, particularly the cordless ones. However, they also make a lot of other impressive cordless power tools that we'd like to take a look at here. We will talk about the prices and features of their circular saws, reciprocating saws, jigsaws and impact wrenches. Of course, there are also the driver drills and hammers which you can read about on some of our other pages. 

Circular Saws

BSS610 18V 6-1/2" LXT Lithium-ion Circular Saw Kit - Sells for around $330. It has a compact design and only weighs 7.1 pounds, which is great for reducing fatigue. Has high torque D35 motor (3700 rpm!) for lots of cutting power. Has 45 minute optimum battery charger with thermal control and fan to cool the battery. That cooling fan leads to longer battery life!  Has two built in LEDs for lighting up your work area. Also has a built in dust blower. What can we say, this a great tool.

5094DWD 14.4V 3-3/8" Cordless Circular Saw Kit - Goes for around $218. This thing is compact and super light at only 4.6 lbs., and that's with the battery. It has a gauge for reading cutting depth on the blade housing.

Reciprocating Saws

BJR240SHE 24V MAKSTAR Cordless Recipro Saw Kit (2-Speed, Variable Speed) - Sells for about $320. Has 24 Volt 1.7Ah NiMH battery - Think long run time here. Has the Makita D35 motor which has a replaceable armature. One handed blade changes with their "Tool-less" clamp system. Weighs 9.7 pounds with the battery. This one is about as powerful as it gets for a cordless reciprocating saw.

Jig Saws

BJV180 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Jig Saw Kit - Sells for around $389. We love this saw! It has four cut positions, three orbital and one straight. It has the LED lights for work area illumination. It has the tool-less lock system for fast blade changes. Has nice and large variable speed trigger for 0 to 2600 strokes per minute (SPM). It has the 25 minute rapid optimum battery charger for the 18 volts Lithum-Ion. It's light, it only weighs 6.1 pounds with the battery. Really nice saw!

Impact Wrenches

BTW251 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2" Impact Wrench Kit - Around $348. Pretty darn poweful for something so small, as it weighs in at a tiny 3.7 pounds.  Gets 170 ft. lbs. of torque from the four-pole motor. Replaceable motor armature. Rapid optimum battery charger with cooling fan. Has the built-in L.E.D. to light up your work area. It's only six and a half inches long and weighs next to nothing, so you can't really expect it to do what the guns do, but for its size, we certainly think it delivers.

We've by no means covered all of the Makita cordless power tools here, however we've found there is a lot of overlap between many of the different models. Still, we'd like to test some more of them and see if we are missing anything. We might add more pages in the future on some of there are other stuff.
